The second contrivance is the way in which Magneto is able to reprogram the Sentinels by...inserting train rails into them? And it's not just a matter of him moving them like puppets or something, as he seems to have control of their programmed behavior. Not sure how that works, and its pretty important to the plot.
Meh. Magneto seems to be a genius. Given that he has access to Sentinel schematics down to the last bolt inserting enough metal to control their motor functions is more than plausible. As for programmed behavior, he had no control whatsoever. He simply turned the head of one Sentinel towards Wolverine and Beast and let it do its anti-mutant thing. The verbal command was probably more for audience benefit than anything else, as well as a way to further show the humans how utterly in control he was of their "solution" to the mutant "problem". After all the Sentinel had no qualms over attacking Magneto once he was the only visible mutant, and Magneto was able to further demonstrate how ineffective they would be as a weapon when he ripped it to shreds.
Also, Quicksilver is very OP, to the point where they have to send him home for no reason to keep him from solving all the problems
To be fair, Xavier himself is also extremely OP. If he had his powers he could have solved the entire movie on his own without the need for Magneto or Quicksilver.
As for myself:
I thought it was great. Definitely one of the best X-Men films.
Given that Stryker was actually Mystique and it was her that picked Wolverine up, its possible he doesn't get adamantium. However, they can fix this given that Apocalypse is around the corner. Wolverine as one of the Four Horsemen perhaps?
