"This is the most romances we've done in a BioWare game," said Mark Darrah. They're all optional and come in "a wide variety of flavours", added Laidlaw. "Really what we're hoping is everyone finds somebody to love."
Even the concept of choice is expanded, he said, calling them more "grey" than "black and white." They're "moving beyond choice and into dilemma, forcing you to make difficult decisions. There are hundreds of these decision points and actions that will shape your story making it unique to you," Darrah said
Am I the only who cringes every time I hear the words "morally grey" spoken? Making everyone "grey" instead of "black and white" means you've now substituted one colour for two, and you run the risk of being so hell-bent on avoiding any sort of division between the "good guys" and "bad guys" that you end up making both sides equally reprehensible and leaving me to wonder why the hell I should care about ether one. The Witcher games suffered from that problem, as did Dragon Age 2. What I want to see is a full spectrum of morality, from saintly, heroic types to complete monsters to everyone in between. Fallout: New Vegas did this. KotOR 2 did this. Dragon Age: Origins and Mass Effect did this in their better moments. I'd hate to see this game become another one that makes me wonder, to quote Yahtzee, "Is there not some third side to this conflict I could join, preferably one that isn’t full of dicks?"
The world of Dragon Age: Inquisition will react to your presence and to the actions you take. Our brand new emergent life system changes based upon the decisions and actions you make, evolving the world as you progress through the story. The inquisition is your primary tool of influence. Use the war table to send your agents on missions and to decide where the story goes next. Rebuild and customize the stronghold and make it your own. Or use the judgment system to capture enemies in the world and decide their ultimate fate."
"YOUR CHOICES MATTER!" As if we haven't heard that before...
