What irks me is that while the "Oh, Avengers 2 is using Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch? Quick, to the Quicksilvermobile!" thing in X-Men DoFP was an obvious attempt at "we got there first" (FWIW, Quicksilver's been in Wolverine Origins already, retconned out as it was), the mishandling of the Maximoff/Lensherr kids is still bothersome.
Quick fix:
X-Men Last Stand features Scarlet Witch in place of Phoenix and Quicksilver in place of Callisto. They're already playing their parts anyway. I know Callisto's powers are hard to show on-screen, much like Taskmaster's, Echo's or, say, Kylun's (mostly because Kylun never uses his powers, much like Crazy Inez, he's famous for something completely unrelated to his mutant ability anyway), but come on. That was stewpid.
X-Men DoFP keeps Quicksilver, because he was built well into the story of that movie (complete with the fatherhood jokes).
Avengers, tho? There's a wonderful pair of twins for Von Strucker to use instead. HIS OWN CHILDREN. Now, I know that Fenris don't have powers that work in THIS PARTICULAR WAY, but that can be written out and about.
Also, while everyone watched the "he's gonna die" tropes for Hawkeye play out, the one I was thinking of? His Ultimate Marvel fate, becoming that world's Bullseye after his wife and kids were killed. IIRC, it's also the only prominent setting where he HAD a family to begin with (don't forget, M-Day happened because Wanda went nuts over not having kids from him or Vision or anybody, and Wanda's resurrection, along with Hawkeye's, somehow involved the two of them having lots of sex).
