I liked it, a lot actually.
Yes it's nostalgic, and rehashes the plot from the original, but it hits the right emotional notes with it's characters, both new and old.
The action is exciting, gritty and dangerous rather than flashy and choreographed to death, the humour feels natural.
And it's great not to have perfect 100% knowledge on who lives, who dies, who gets injured...
Han was great in this movie, i was afraid his participation was going to be hamfisted and sad, but he still feels like Han doing Han stuff(just a Han that has been through a lot), the jokes and everything, his moments with Chewie are great.
C3PO is still oblivious and inconvinient, but now it's charming lol.
I also don't know how that weapon is gonna be used after the sun is drained, and it did remind me of the Star Forge.
I liked the fact that the weak spot wasn't weak at all, it needed to be blown up from the inside to put a dent in it, it was more involving than Luke's assault on the Death Star and everybody watching it, a mix between ANH and ROTJ with the possibilities of todays special effects.
Still i hope the superweapon thing doesn't make another comeback...
We all knew what was gonna happen to Han when Leia told him to reach out to Kylo Ren, still emotional as f... I feel your pain Chewie.
Rey natural talent is beyond belief indeed (and don't forget she is going against a descendant of mr midichlorians himself).
It is inconsistent with the prequels, but so is the ESB confrontation.
Still Kylo looked badly hurt by Chewie's shot and even Finn got a hit, before Rey's turn.
A lot of stuff set up for the future, Rey's family... Who is Snoke? There are other Knights of Ren(Snoke called Kylo their leader)? Everything about Kylo Ren...
Bottom line i had great time and i think the future looks bright, these new characters are interesting in their own right and after this introduction i think the series is in a good position to both break free and get creative it's stories while still doing some parallels (the Kylo Ren>Vader is inevitable now).
