The next trailer for this series has dropped, and unless they're making it available on Netflix in North America, the big 'Netflix' at the beginning is misleading at best.
Any hopes I have for this series die a little more as I see more footage of it. The opening song for ST: Enterprise was one of the biggest complaints Trekkies had about that series, and the musical score they decided to use for this trailer doesn't help its case. Personally, I don't see what's wrong with bringing back the orchestral scores. Maybe that's what they'll have for the series opening and this is just a bad marketing decision.
Then there's the addition of JJ Abrams-style BLAM-BLAM! Action Hero moments mixed with odd out of context philosophical quotes. Not to mention they're making Harry Mudd from TOS look more like the Joker than the swindler who got in over his head on different occasions and brought the crew of the Enterprise with him in TOS.
Now a comparison of the USS Shenzhou from ST: Discovery to the USS Enterprise from TOS:
Once again, this is supposed to be a mere ten years before Kirk and Spock, which they nailed down in this trailer. So this is at the exact same time that Pike was commanding the Enterprise, pictured above, which is supposed to be around at the same time that this is going on. It looks like it's more from the near future of the DS9/Voyager-era (which I'm getting the feeling they probably should have done instead) rather than a prequel to TOS.
Sufficed it to say, I don't think I'm going to breach that pay wall to even give this a try.
