Recommended Specs & Mac Availability
"Subnautica is in the earliest stages of development, and that means it needs pretty powerful hardware. To play at an average frame rate of greater than 35 fps with recommended graphics settings at 1920 x 1080, you need a CPU equal to or more powerful than an Intel i5-4590, and a GPU equal to or more powerful than a NVIDIA GTX 550 ti. Subnautica does currently feature a ‘minimum’ graphics setting that may yield acceptable frame rates on less powerful hardware. However, we do not recommend joining Earliest Access on less powerful hardware. If you have a very, very powerful computer, you may want to try out the ‘Experimental’ graphics setting."
"In terms of Mac availability releasing cross-platform increases the likelihood that we’ll break something really badly for either Windows or Mac players. Because Subnautica is so early in development, we want to be careful and only release on Windows first. If you want to play on Mac, sign up to the Subnautica mailing list. We’ll let you know as soon as a Mac version is available!"
