Well, here we are, my fellow gamers.
We've been through a lot, haven't we? Through the chaotic blaze of summer, the cooling months of fall, and the turbulent predawn of winter. One marked by the continuing controversies of the industry many of us love. Dearly. Passionately. Honestly. But the part I admire, the part I carry from it all, is that we, as a community, have stuck by each other. We've come from the same troubled home and built our own. When one of us stumbles, we're there to catch them, pat them on the shoulder, and do what we do best.
Stick together.
And I am thankful for that. I am genuinely humbled by it. Because despite the stigma that's currently polarizing forums and communities and fans all across the globe, we've stuck together.
Despite being labeled as misogynists, sexists, trans-phobes, man-babies, gender traitors, anti-feminists; despite being compared to terrorists, anarchists, anti-progressives; despite all of this, we've done something that many have not.
We've stuck together.
Despite facing censorious blocklists, having members of our own community on that list and having our own site on it (for doing nothing more than take a neutral stance - because hey, if you're not with them, you're against them, even though you're not with the other side)
We've stuck together.
Some people lament that change is inevitable. That progression in the industry and the community must happen so that all races and walks of life are equally valid. That no one man or woman is considered better than the other. And I think that is WHY we have all formed not only this community of gamers, but a community of friends. One that already doesn't judge another based on where they live, what religious beliefs they have, what sexual orientation they are, what color of skin they carry, or what age they are.
So not only am I thankful for you guys being you, I'm glad you're already ahead of the curve. Because there's nothing here that needs "fixing." It's been fixed since the day we all met.
And that is why I am Thankful for YOU.
*except for Noelemahc. Because he's evil.*
