I'm surprised no one here has started a thread about this. However, North Korea is mouthing off about how they will attack us for implying that they had something to do with the Sony hacks.
And the fact that Sony was hacked... AGAIN... is something that should be in the Guiness Book of World Records for the companies with the most hacks that have made the least improvements in cybersecurity in the last five years. But let's put aside all the emails and documents proving the outright racism, sexism, personal information, and douchebaggery that has come out of this hack.
I want to focus on the movies that were pulled as a result and the attack on Free Speach. Enthusiacs, if the US acted as Sony did, our site wouldn't exist. For all its fault, HTL wouldn't exist either. We wouldn't be able to speak our minds out of fear of being imprisoned or killed. The cancelling of The Interview and the Steve Carell/Gore Verbinski movie are the first movies I know of that were cancelled in over-compliance with the demands of anonymous bullies. That's unacceptable to me.
It was a no-brainer that I was going to support both movies by watching them at movie theatres that would show them. I wanted to show my support and show that I wasn't afraid of these bullies and their bullshit threats. And yes, the threats are bullshit. The minute someone announces an attack, it is strictly to cause panic and scare people into doing what they want. If someone really wanted to hurt us for seeing this movie, they wouldn't tell us. The biggest and most famous attacks (school shootings, terrorist attacks, etc.) were done under the radar. This means that almost no one knew about it until it was too late.
I digress. Then, Sony pulled the release of their movies. So now, I can't show my support for creative expression. I've been looking for a Torrent of the movie, but I can't find one. But this is unacceptable.
And North Korea saying they are going to attack us? Unless he's gonna start shooting missiles now (and I mean right now), Kim needs to drink some Gatorade to replenish his electrolites after screaming empty threats at the world for so long... and then immediately jump up his own ass. I'm tired of that Oompa Lumpa of a man saying he's gonna do something, but doesn't.
I understand that these companies caved in response to these threats, but people need to stop defended said companies. They are not cancelling movies for the saftey of their employees or their customers. They are doing it because they weighed their options legally, and concluded that they would be financially responsible on the small chance that people got hurt watching this movie. What cowards and their cowardy cowardice. Now, I leave you all with this.
